You wouldn’t believe how often I hear something like this:
‘I feel guilty that I haven’t done any Reiki practice in days / weeks / months / years, I must get back to my Reiki, it’s been a while’…

We feel the flow at training days, in 1:1 sessions, in these dedicated chunks of time, but in the busyness of day-to-day, we become distanced and distracted. It’s normal! And yet, it’s where the work of the practice is.

This month I’d like to remind you one simple and beautiful truth: Reiki isn’t a thing you have to remember to do, it’s remembering a way of being. Whether your mindful energy practice is rooted in Reiki or another energy modality, you will notice that your self-development and self-awareness grows when we notice the many little ways of being present with something you’re already connected to.

Reiki (or any other mindful energy practice) isn’t about creating a connection, it’s remembering a connection that’s already there. The power is in being: in the choice of every moment, every action and reaction. Every time we notice ourselves, nature’s beauty, and our connection in the web of life.

It really is not about hand placements — the practice of hands-on self healing is one small part of a much deeper system. The self-healing power of Reiki is in being in relationship with life energy, every day.

This month, Practice Share brings you:

  • The purpose and power of ‘being’ with plants,

  • The problem with ‘doing’ in Reiki,

  • A guided breathing meditation: Breathe with a Plant, 20- minute version,

  • A guided mini-meditation: Breathe with a Plant, 5- minute version,

  • Exploring the possibilities of ‘everything alive’,

  • Monday’s Zoom Practice Share joining details.

Dip into it today. Come back to it tomorrow. Take the whole month over it! If I were you, I’d bookmark this to come back to again and again.

I’ve also updated the About page, and thought you might like a sneak preview of all upcoming Reiki & Remedy Practice Share themes. Scroll through to see the topics we’ll explore together over the year.

Being, not doing

Last year, I attended a wonderful course run by the Mindfulness Association at the Samye Ling monastry & centre, called Naturally Being. We talked about what it means to ‘be’, and how hard it is not to do! It is this position of ‘being’ that anchors practice in the day to day.

I have been reflecting on the mindful movement, mindfulness meditation, nature immersion and outdoor practices we experienced that weekend, in response to thinking about how we bring Reiki into every day practice. We found moments of deep belonging to the web of life. True relationship of breathing with a living world.

Fully feeling the aliveness of every thing.

This is the very purpose of this Practice Share, to anchor practice in mindful energy, nature connection and the power of plants in your every day. To make it real and accessible, to help integrate all the elements of the System of Reiki.

So, to this month’s Practice Share…

This month we’ll practice a simple yet highly effective, calming, reassuring, nurturing and sustaining practice: breathing with a plant. An experience of being.

In herbalism, we can find ourselves busy with doing. Making, blending, harvesting, sowing, planning… and it is super important in my experience of herbalism to also take time to just be with the plants.

This month, there is nothing to do.

This month, it is an invitation to be.
